Admissions to RHNS
Admission to the nursery is on a “first-come, first-served” basis, taking into account the mix of ages and the balance of staff and student parents at any one time. We can accommodate children from the age of 3 months until school age – please see Aberdeen City Council website for school details.
Anyone interested in applying for a place should complete and return the application form by email.

We cannot guarantee that a place will be available when you want it, but the earlier you apply, the better.
Data Protection Privacy Notice for parents applying for a place.
We require the following information from you in order to process your application:
- Child’s name
- Child’s date of birth
- Requested start date
- Parent’s names
- Staff or Student ID numbers
- Department
- Course title
- Home address and telephone numbers
- Work address and telephone numbers
- Email address
- Session required.
We will only use this information to process your application. In some cases, this information may be passed on to other University departments, but only to ensure you are eligible for a place at the nursery. If you ask to be removed from our waiting list, your application form will be destroyed. Any information you have been sent via email will also be destroyed.
New to nursery? What you need to know
Induction Process
Once you have been offered a place at nursery then you will be given a start date with visits starting two weeks before. The visits range in length of time from 30 minutes to one hour, two hours, and then a four-hour session. All visits are free of charge. As part of the induction process then you will be asked to complete some paperwork which provides the nursery with some information about your child and family.
What you need to bring
Please provide for your child a water cup (in the 3-5s group, this is taken home each night and returned the next day), spare clothes, nappies (if required), your child’s comforter (if they have one) and a set of spare clothes (which have been labelled with your child’s name). As we play outdoors then please provide suitable outdoor clothing (sunhats/waterproof trousers/jacket/winter hat and gloves, wellies). During the induction process, you will be able to discuss with one of the staff team anything else you might need to bring to nursery.
Keyworker system
We operate a keyworker system and this member of the team will record your child’s learning and development on our Interactive learning diary system. If you would like to have a discussion with them about your child’s development they can meet with you face to face or on a teams call.
